IRAN’S GLOBAL THREAT WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS: A CALL FOR URGENT ACTION
The development of nuclear weapons by some nations is a delicate situation with regards to existential threats associated with the entire process. Extensive research carried out indicates that nuclear weapons release energy in an explosive form. They produce highly destructive energy capable of causing deaths or permanent disabilities of unimaginable degrees.
The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945 which contained only about 64kg of enriched uranium released a terrible blast with lethal impacts, injuries and sicknesses. While the world was still counting the losses suffered, three days later, Nagasaki witnessed an unprecedented atomic blast, the impact so severe on a scale never seen before by any single weapon. Thousands of lives were lost and many permanent disabilities recorded. As a result, Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and Treaty on the non-proliferation of Nuclear weapons were agreed upon and signed in 1963 and 1968 respectively.
