MASSIVE LOOTING OF REPATRIATED FUNDS BY BUHARI ADMINISTRATION

In the build up to the 2015 General elections, Nigeria with a population of about 200million people was ranked the best and fastest growing economy in Africa with GDP of about 80 trillion Naira (£307billion) according to Nigeria Statistics Office. The nation with focused economic road map driven by competent technocrats became the envy of the world with ease of doing business very fascinating and attracting investors from various facets of life. It is quite unfortunate that within five years of General Muhammadu Buhari's presidency, the then prosperous nation has now become the poverty capital of the world, overtaking India with a huge population of about 1.3billion.

President Buhari who took over power in 2015 with deceitful matra of fight against corruption, improving the economy and ensuring security has failed woefully in his three cardinal campaign agenda. According to Transparency International, Nigeria ranked 148 out of 180 nations in 2019 with score of 26% despite the propaganda of his so called fight against corruption. The substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Water Onnoghen was illegally and single handedly removed by Buhari, flouting all constituted procedure for removing a substantive CJN.

It is worthy of note that unimaginable level of corruption and looting of Nigeria's treasury is occurring under the nose of the acclaimed "Saint in Chief" President Buhari. He has borrowed more than all other Democratic administrations in Nigeria put together from 1999 to 2015 with no tangible project to show for it as the nations debt profile hits the roof.
The Nigeria Senate recently approved a loan of $22.7billion taking Nigeria debt profile to about 33trillion Naira ($84billion) from about $10billion in 2014. IMF recently approved a loan of $3.7billion to the Buhari administration as well as billions of naira he claim to have recovered from looted funds in his so called fight against corruption. Few weeks ago, $311million were repatriated to Nigeria by United States as looted funds of Nigeria former military dictator Gen Sani Abacha, a man Buhari claimed he looted no funds. What is Buhari's administration doing with all these huge resources while Nigerians lavish in abject poverty and hunger.

Consequently, the international community is urgently implored to stop the repatriation of these looted funds to Buhari's administration as he has consistently showed total incompetence in managing the affairs of the nation. It is absolutely necessary that these funds should no longer be sent back to Buhari's administration until a government with proven managerial skills and total interest of the masses as their goal is entrenched in the country. The United States of America, United Kingdom and all other nations where Nigeria's wealth are being siphoned to are hereby called upon to stop releasing them to Buhari APC led administration as there are brazen evidences of terrible corruption, looting and embezzling of the nation's wealth. It is time to call Buhari's administration to account.
