    Update COVID-19 17 February 2021

    17 February 2021 — One hundred, and twenty-two (122) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4618 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, seven hundred, and sixteen (17716). To date, fifteen thousand, nine hundred, and eighteen (15918) patients have recovered, including four hundred, and forty-three (443) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, five hundred, and fifty-five (1555) and two hundred, and forty-three (243) deaths. 



    The new cases are in Kigali (32), Muhanga (15), Kirehe (10), Karongi (8), Ngoma (8), Gatsibo (7), Kayonza (6), Nyaruguru (6), Gisagara (5), Rulindo (5), Rusizi (3), Nyamagabe (3), Ngororero (3), Nyagatare (3), Nyanza (2), Huye (2),  Rubavu (1), Kamonyi (1), Bugesera (1), and Gakenke (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.


     


    The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.


    Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws. 



    The key symptoms of coronavirus are dry cough, shortness of breath, and fever. Automated screening is available by dialing *114#. Symptoms can also be reported to a medical professional, or as follows:
